HoLLa: Update on Life vol. 5

Happy Monday Blogdom!

So it’s been a few days since I wrote on here – been really busy with life, the whole weight watcher/gym thing, having
margaritas, spending an entire day bickering/brawling with Bri (grrrrr!), being a mommy to a ridiculously energetic two year old and two teenagers & all while being completely fabulous (snicker).
Cause that’s how I roll ya know…

Okay I gotta few questions to toss out there…
1. Why is that there are xmas trees in Walmart already? Saw them with my own eyes yesterday. Skylar thought they were wonderous – I nearly puked.
2. Why do you always run into someone you haven’t seen in a bazillion years that one time you decide to make a quick dash to pick up milk looking like medusa in ratty(ish) yoga pants & flip flops?
3. Why do some people always seem to look a gift horse in the mouth? Seriously – you are being given something out of the kindness of someone’s heart & you are going to question and critique it? Ah-friggen-may-zing!
4. Why do *old* people feel compelled to show me their bodily issues? I love my grandmother – but I do NOT need to see that *foot thing* you got going on. Wish I was making this one up. Ew!
5. Why do some people not realize that their child is a menace to society and it is not a phase? You have possible serial killer on your hands & it should be addressed.
6. And finally… why is it that some people do not realize that the problem is them? If your family, friends, and co-workers ALL have issue with you – I am guessing it is you?
Any insight is greatly appreciated!

So a little boo-boo update:
Remember this?
Skylar vs. bannister – bannister wins!

Then it progressed to this…
Swollen & freakin’ me out because she actually look different. :)
Then a nice bruise… if bruises are your thing and all?
Finally this is where we are at today.
SO much better. Swelling gone – leaving a nice yellowish bruise.
But still a very sore subject. If I ask her what happened she does this weird eye blinky thing and then makes a fake cry. Obviously she just cannot speak of such things…

So to end on a good note: I start tarot class with Angela @ her shop this week!!!!
OMGosh so excited.
I have been wanting to take this class since early this year – just with my job & life it never worked out. But now it does and I am making it a priority.
May sound silly to some? But I have always wanted to really learn how to read cards!

And finally – I think I am finally ready to have my tubes tied. We know we don’t want to have more babies – but choosing not to and being physically unable has been something I have oddly struggled with? I have been two times since Skylar was born to see my ob/gyn (a peach of a woman) about it and both times she told me I wasn’t ready.
I am ready now and with being out of work and Skylar not being quite so dependent on me – the time is right.
I am a bit leery about the procedure and all – any input out there?

Time to seize the day – we have had incredible weather here the past week or so – which is rumored to end this coming weekend. Gonna take Miss Sky outside and maybe to the park?

  1. Answer to your questions:
    1. Walmart wants to cash in big time on the commercialism of the Christmas holiday.

    2. That's why I moved over an hour away from where I grew up. I never run into anyone. :P

    3. People are retarded...

    4. Uh... They've already talked everything else to death in their 80+ years and that nasty foot thing is something new to discuss.

    5. They're in denial.

    6. People are retarded. :P

I wish I had a shop nearby that offered all the amazing things Angela does... But I don't. :( Closest shop is 45 minutes away or a hellish drive into the city.

  2. How cool that you get to take a tarot class! I heard about one around here, but it is during my evening classes. :-( I have always wanted to learn the proper way to read them, too.

I read them right now, but with pure intuition and am completely self-taught. I am probably doing them wrong, but it's the most religious and spiritual I ever feel, when I'm reading the cards. :-)

I'm so glad that Skylar's wound is healing well!

Xmas in september annoys me, too. I'm fine with it being postponed until Thanksgiving... didn't that used to be the deal?

  3. We saw Christmas lights at Target today, just the lights but it was a sign of things to come.

  4. I had my tubes tied. It's good and bad. I'm glad that I no longer have to worry about birth control but there are a lot of side effects that they don't tell you about. Weight gain, hormone fluctuations...just google it. I found a few forums full of women who had their tubes reversed to try and undue the damage that the first procedure caused.
I'm not trying to campaign for either side...I just wanted to let you know that there is a lot of info out there :)

  5. Answer to number 2-well, I don't have an answer, but when you look crummy, they look GREAT! I HATE that-so not fair!

And number 5? that just made me laugh because you are SO right! And I've noticed from keeping kids that it's worse among little boys (boys will be boys is what they say!) and puberty-ish girls (she's just got a lot of hormones right now) you just need to help your child!

And I would LOVE to be nosey and if you do get your tubes tied ask questions-like how much it hurts and how long I'd have to take off work. I REALLY want another child, but George is 2.5 months old and my joints are actually worse from having them and it doesn't look like they're getting any better. We've been talking to the doctors and between them and Ross and I we're just not sure if another kid would be a good idea.

SO, if you take the plunge or if you get good advice on here I'd love to know!

  6. Holy Canoli - Poor Skylar! She looks like she took that bump like a champ! Glad it's healing, she wears the bruise well :) Pretty sure this post almost made me spit my water out...especially the serial killer one (Pretty sure I know those people) and um it's like a law that the one day you go out with no makeup on and sweats, you are guaranteed to bump into someone. Stupid universe!

  7. I got my tubes tied on my youngests 2nd birthday:) all told if was a few days till i was uo an running, no lifting for two weeks.. it was like a mini vacay, the mr did everything. Sometimes i wish we could have another, but im glad we arent. good luck!

  8. You gave me a lot to comment so I will just do a few.

Glad you daughter is doing better. Bruises super suck!!

Tarot class - love the idea. I have read books but no class around hear. You have to really practice and geta feel for the cards. They do talk youjust have to figure what they are saying . That is why I say practice.

Tubes tied -yup I did. I was in my twenties. I had three by the time I was 22. Very fertile. Did other birth control but as you can see not very effective. Take the meds they give you. The gas bubbles are a killer but last only a couple of days. LIke someone commented before no lifting and you may experience more cramping.

But sex with no worries outweighs all that!! ;)

That is if you are ready. You will have babies in your future they are called grandchildren and they are the best!!!! You can give them back when they get cranky :)

  9. On the issue of having your tubes tied....

I had it done about 12 years ago, when I was 21. It was quite a simple procedure and I must admit that the most troublesome/painful part was going through the required therapy sessions and talks with the doctor where she tried incessantly to talk me out of it. It was an outpatient procedure. I went in, they put in the iv with the stuff that makes you all fuzzy minded and sleepy. I remember being wheeled out of the room, but don't remember making it to the hallway. Next thing, I was waking up. As someone who has suffered here and there from really bad cramping during 'that time of the month', I wouldn't say that the pain afterward was any worse. That same night (and I don't suggest this, it probably wasn't the wisest choice), I went out dancing. Granted, I wasn't able to dance like usual, but I was able to enjoy myself, so I couldn't have been suffering very bad.

12 years later....the only scares I've ever had was when I suddenly started craving weird food. At this point, it's irreversible, which is just fine and dandy with me. I've contributed to the population twice. I've done my part :)
