30 MORE Days of Blogging -- Day 30

Day 30 – What is your best tip for losing weight?

EAT LESS; MOVE MORE

No really – it’s THAT simple!

Not that I have it mastered -- but even in my WORST moments of gluttony I know what I should and shouldn't be doing!

I am currently trying to practice what I preach -- but like everyone; I have good and bad days!

I am SO glad to be finished with this blogging challenge – and it will be the absolute LAST one I ever partake in.

30 MORE Days of Blogging -- Day 29

Day 29 - Hopes, dreams, and plans for the future

• Join a gym and finally hit my goal weight this year
• Get my new camera and get my business in full swing
• MOVE!!!!
• Spend quality time with my kids – especially my two teenage sons – I am sure they will be overjoyed by this -- *heh*
• Do a makeover on myself – I miss being a stylish woman who turns heads!
• Find the perfect playgroup/daycare for my daughter. She needs some *kid time* with other kids and I need to work more.
• Have *date night* once a month with Brian!
• Hang out with my girlfriends more – I feel like I have lost that connection with my girls and I miss it!
• Keep what is REALLY important in life as my main focus – a new house, business, hairdo, and thinner body are great – but my loved ones and quality time with them is what I want the most!

Blessed Be…

30 MORE Days of Blogging -- Day 28

Day 28 – If you could appear on any Television Program what would it be?

Well I would say LOST because it is my absolute FAVORITE show of ALL time – but alas, the show is finite and it would also require acting – something I just do not excel in.
So…
I will have to say SURVIVOR because I can admit that I have fantasies about going on that show, outwitting, outplaying, and outlasting everyone! And is it really bad that I would almost like to be a *villain* than a *good* gal?

Oh yeah… and the million dollar paycheck would be super-duper and obviously would solve a lot of monetary issues!

Blessed Be…

30 MORE Days of Blogging -- Day 27

♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥
Day 27 - A physical feature you love about yourself

My eyes…

30 MORE Days of Blogging -- Day 26

Day 26 - A photo you took and the story behind it

This is one of my favorite recent photos of Skylar – it was taken at our Cousin Brady’s 3rd birthday party when she was at the *coloring table* with all the other kids.
Skylar takes coloring quite seriously – as you can see by the tongue and the intent look upon her beautiful little face.
It is one of her most favorite things to do after all…

This picture will ALWAYS make me smile!!!

30 MORE Days of Blogging -- Day 25

Day 25 – Share a heart-warming story

I have been stuck on this for daysssss…
I have been trying to think of/search for the perfect heart-warming story that would convey my emotion without causing too-much emotion.
I try to make my blog crying/Kleenex free!

So instead I will share photos that evoke emotion and make you SMILE!
A picture speaks a thousand words, right?

*Notice most… errr ALL… of the photos are of babies and animals – proving what melts my heart!*

30 MORE Days of Blogging -- Day 24

Day 24 – What are three things you would take with you on a deserted island

I am writing this assuming that my immediate family are with me as I would never travel without them and we are on an island with fresh spring water, a bevy of food sources, and a secret hatch! (Sorry had to toss a Lost reference in there!)

So with that being said…
I would have to take:

1. A laptop with internet of course (they have WIFI on deserted islands right?)
2. Music
3. Coffee – no one wants to be stranded anywhere with me without coffee – just sayin’!

30 MORE Days of Blogging -- Day 23

Day 23 - A way in which you want to be remembered

I want to be remembered for my…

• Endless love for my family and those closest to me
• Integrity
• Honesty
• Twinkle
• My work
• Humor
• Positivity
• Insight
• and my zest for life!

30 MORE Days of Blogging -- Day 22

♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥
Day 22 - A movie no one would expect you to love

I LOVE the Godfather Trilogy --specifically Part Three

The reason I think it is a movie no one would expect me to love is that no one else seems to love it?

I get that some find it not as authentic/wonderful/artistic/whatever as the first two movies but it is nonetheless a good movie and in my opinion an appropriate ending for the characters – who come full circle.
And the ending of the movie – wow!

Maybe I love it because I believe in karma?
Interesing…
Anywho…
That’s just my two cents and I have had many a heated conversation with Mafioso wannabe’s in the heart of Providence over this matter.
To each their own…

30 MORE Days of Blogging -- Day 21

Day 21 – Tell a joke or a riddle

I don't tell jokes.
Not because I don't appreciate a good joke or am not funny -- I do and I am.
It's just not my forte -- and I can NEVER remember them!
So let's not even pretend I wouldn't have to Google *jokes* and copy one.
Instead I will post funny pics -- more importanly funny cat pictures.

I don't know why but I find these HILARIOUS!?!?!

Enjoy! ☺

30 MORE Days of Blogging -- Day 20

Day 20 - A hobby of yours

Photography – didn’t have to think twice.

I have ALWAYS loved to take pictures since I was about age ten and got my first Kodak Instamatic camera with the block flash on top. I loved that camera and used it to take pictures of what I knew – my family, my cats, and my friends.

Hmmm… not much has changed really.

That was such a time of wonderment and discovery for me and my camera documented every step – from my cat Snowy and her litter of kittens to my 5th grade class trip to The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan.

Over time I progressed to a Kodak disc camera that I owned for about five years. I loved that camera – and I really think this is where my urge to be a bit more artistic with it came into play! It was so easy to use and actually took really nice pictures. They stopped making that camera and the discs in the mid-late 1980’s and I can distinctly remember my Grandmother stocking up on every disc she could find and filling my Christmas stocking one year with the discs to keep me in operation for as long as possible.

*What a happy thought…*

My disc camera saw me through my freshman year on the cheerleading squad, proms, high school festivities, and a bevy of trips to scout out colleges.

I had a few other inexpensive 110 film cameras along the way but honestly I lost my desire to shoot during my late teens into my early twenties – I was just too busy running amuck and living life to actually stop and photograph it.

It wasn’t until the birth of Hunter and when I was given a REALLY nice 35mm Minolta one Christmas from my Mom that my urge to photograph was reignited. All of the pictures of Hunter and Peyton as babies, toddlers, and young boys were taken with that camera – that particular camera will always hold a special place in my heart.

I used that camera (still own it) until I bought myself my first digital camera in 2003 – a Kodak Easy Share. Digital photography brought my hobby to a whole new level – I could shoot endlessly and EDIT my own photographs!

*insert music from heaven*

I have subsequently owned another Kodak Easy Share (I carry it everywhere with me as you never know what you may encounter) and I currently own a Nikon L110 and am in the process of choosing and purchasing my first DSLR!

My hobby turned into a career in studio photography and the desire to begin my own business which I hope to have in full swing by late Spring –early Summer.

I just love photography and cannot imagine a life without it!

30 MORE Days of Blogging -- Day 19

♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥
Day 19 - A scar you have, and it's story

I don’t have many scars and have always been in relatively great health – I have never had stitches, a broken bone (minus a finger or toe), or anything more serious than the flu to be honest.

The most traumatic thing to happen to my body is the birth of my three children – and that is natural and beautiful.

I do have one small scar on my right ankle from falling off a skateboard in the fourth grade and another on my knee from falling in a puddle of water that I underestimated its depth. They probably the only noticeable scar on my entire body – and they aren’t much to speak of. Honestly – you would never know they are there if I didn’t point them out.
Guess I am just blessed in this respect?

30 MORE Days of Blogging -- Day 18

Day 18 – A charity or a cause you support and why

This is a very personal subject for me and honestly something I am not forthcoming about for various reasons – some valid and some out of pure shame.
I work on that shame daily – because the shame is what silences victims and enables the abuser.
With that being said…

I support
Elizabeth Buffam Chace Center -- a local hotline/crisis center/shelter for individuals and families affected by abuse.
I do so because I became personally involved with EBC and the wonderful counselors who work there after leaving an abusive relationship.
I do so because I believe in paying it forward and because I hope that maybe the small things I do will help someone to never be where I was or worst.

Blessed Be…

30 MORE Days of Blogging -- Day 17

Day 17 – What motivates you to achieve your goals?

30 MORE Days of Blogging -- Day 16

Day 16 - A song that makes you cry.

Can I say I have been dreading this topic – and not because I am so cold-hearted biznotch who feels no emotional attachment to music – quite the contrary. But this is just such a hard one to answer as there are so many factors in play…
My mood, the circumstances, my hormones… I mean really?

But I guess if I had to narrow it down – the one song that always at least musses my mascara would have to be “Daughters” by John Mayer.
He may not have written it in the context in which it evokes emotion from me – but I will interpret it any ‘ol way I wanna!

"Daughters"
By John Mayer

I know a girl
She puts the color inside of my world
But she's just like a maze
Where all of the walls all continually change
And I've done all I can
To stand on her steps with my heart in my hands
Now I'm starting to see
Maybe it's got nothing to do with me

Fathers, be good to your daughters
Daughters will love like you do
Girls become lovers who turn into mothers
So mothers, be good to your daughters too

Oh, you see that skin?
It's the same she's been standing in
Since the day she saw him walking away
Now she's left
Cleaning up the mess he made

So fathers, be good to your daughters
Daughters will love like you do
Girls become lovers who turn into mothers
So mothers, be good to your daughters too

Boys, you can break
You'll find out how much they can take
Boys will be strong
And boys soldier on
But boys would be gone without the warmth from
A womans good, good heart

On behalf of every man
Looking out for every girl
You are the god and the weight of her world

So fathers, be good to your daughters
Daughters will love like you do
Girls become lovers who turn into mothers
So mothers, be good to your daughters too [x3]

30 MORE Days of Blogging -- Day 15

Day 15 - Five websites you visit often or would recommend

I have sites I visit daily without fail -- Facebook, email, news, my bank.

But sites I love to frequent and would recommend?
Well…

Any of the blogs I follow here -- a whole long list on my side bar over to your right! There are such talented, funny, and real folks out there writing blogs on a bevy of subjects. Obviously I read blogs that somehow pertain to something in my life – Mommyhood, photography, Paganism – to name a few. But I think anyone in any given situation would enjoy any of these blogs!

I LOVE some of the free (well semi-free – some functions require a small monthly fee) photo editing sites like
Picnik and BeFunky. So much fun!

Etsy -- I ♥ ♥ ♥ Etsy and just recently got turned on to the site. I have heard so much about it but never gave it a whirl. Thanks to blogger and some amazing giveaways – I spend TONS of time there now! If you love custom, handmade, one-of-a-kind items – this is the place for you!

Sparkpeople -- Now I say this hesitantly because I am such a champion for Weight Watchers and it has given me the tools to lose 40+ lbs. and get a renewed lease on life. BUT… this is an amazing FREE site if you would like to track your food and exercise. Did I mention its FREE?!?! And the community there is wonderful – almost as wonderful as Weight Watchers!

Pioneer Woman -- Ree Drummond does it all – no, really she does! I am new to her and her site but she is an amazing photographer, cook, Mom to four kiddos whom she homeschools, wife, gardener, and author. I follow her on Facebook as well and her posts always make me smile!

And there you have it…
Granted this list could change a week, month, or year from now. But as of this moment – these are my internet hiding spots!
Do enjoy!

30 MORE Days of Blogging -- Day 14

Day 14 - A vacation you would like to take

This one is easy…
A Family trip to Disney World! It has been a dream of mine for years! And I mean a top-of-the-line, let’s not worry about money, and go ALL out trip!
I want to do at least a week so we can see everything at our leisure and not rush around like freaks.
I want to stay at Disney with four star accommodations with a private bedroom for Brian and me.
I want to do Breakfast with the Princess’ and every other character that Skylar may want to dine with.
And I want souvenir’s and trinkets for us all no matter how outrageously priced they are– including Mickey/Minnie hats with our names on it for EVERYONE!

I want the trip of a lifetime…
And by hook or crook, we will get there someday – preferably by the summer Skylar turns four!

Day 11 - A photo of you taken recently

This is me...
